Easter 2016: Christ The Victor

Have you betrayed Jesus in your life? Such a weird question, right? As far as I remember the biggest betrayal of mine was when I was in high school at lunch hour when I was having lunch with friends. My church taught that we always have to pray at meals but that was not easy to do in my high school. If I did that, my friends and class-mates would’ve made fun of me as a religious freak.

Palm Sunday 2016: The Crucifixion

One of my favorite episodes about John Wesley, our Methodist founder, is that one day John Wesley went to a village in the Northern part of England where mining was thriving and gave his message to people there. The next morning, the mine owners in the town were so surprised because all the missing wheelbarrows were returned in one night! Their yards were literally full of wheelbarrows!

The Torture and Humiliation of the King

Have you watched Mel Gibson’s movie The Passion of the Christ? Do you know the movie is categorized as gore movie because of the exhibition of such brutality? If you haven’t watched that movie yet, I recommend you don’t watch the movie. After I watched the movie, I threw up because the movie was too violent and bloody. Even at that time I thought, “I know Jesus suffered before he was hung on the cross, but not that much. It can’t be true. Mel Gibson exaggerates Jesus’ suffering to make money!”

Koreans generally use two Chinese letters for their names. I am not sure if you know this, but my Korean name is Hye-Won. My father used two Chinese letters. Hye means graceful, and Won means beautiful. My father wanted me to be a graceful and beautiful person. Well, I am trying.
