Condemned By The Righteous

In 2006, when I was working as youth director at a church in South Korea, I had a field trip to Rome and Southern Italy with 22 kids and 10 parents and teachers as chaperone for two weeks. Most kids who went on the trip were only 10 -12 years old. I didn’t know then but now looking back I think I was crazy going with such young students.

The Garden of Gethsemane

On Christmas Eve, one church had a skit for the Eve Service with kids. There was a boy who really wanted to play Joseph, Jesus’ father, but ended up being a inn keeper, and he didn’t like that. So he really got mad at the skit director who gave the part to him. His part was only one saying to Joseph who asked if there was a room where Joseph and Mary could stay, “No we don’t have a room for you.” He didn’t like that he had to say that, either.

Ash Wednesday 2016: A Thousand Years of Ashes

As many of you know, my sister is now living with me until she finds a new job. I am really thankful she decided to stay with me because it might be our last time to live together if she gets a job in a different state. I will try to enjoy our togetherness as much as I can.

Let me confess you first. I have never liked this text, the story of Jesus’ transfiguration, especially as a preacher, I can’t like this text. First, I have no idea what it is about. The only thing I get is that I don’t get it. But it also seems so out of this world.
